about

Yes, sir-ee, this is rockin` power pop....combining all the energy and gleeful joy of oldsters like The Beat, early Costello and The Knack(for the more obscure-minded, Code Blue) and connecting up at the bypass with such modern pop bands as Splitsville, The Andersons or `pick yr favorite pop band`, ....... Straight ahead power with tasty melodies, Raspberries-like harmonies all wrapped up in unprentious package of 12 perfect songs. Guess this Berkley trio used to be in punk bands some years back, so one can understand where the genuine exciement playing this material comes from---something more pop bands could benefit from----just kick out those jams. That this is such a huge winner can not be understated. Energy, sweat, sincerity, and a genuine sense of excitement seem to surround their music. All at once, the band deny and affirm their punk roots without ever sacrificing a melody. A nod to Weller and Strummer or a quick wink at the Attractions, all within the context of one song, is never out of the question. In an age where sincerity and melody are almost opposed to one another, the Effection make no apologies about bringing the two back together. - Not Lame

"Soundtrack to a Moment is, top to bottom, one the finest power pop albums to come out in years. Bouchard and his pals are unabashed pigs for harmonizing, which, when welded to the chassis of their punk background, makes for some pretty cathartic stuff. Forget all the buzzwords like genuine and sincerity that are tossed around to keep power pop down in its cult ghetto, and you'll more likely than not find yourself wondering why a song like "Agony" shouldn't be on the charts. Here's to hoping for better days."
