Lead singer, guitarist, and songwriter Rick Hromadka is certainly the focus of this debut, as he wrote all of the 13 songs. There are crunchy guitars and a vocal exuberance that will please power pop or retro-guitar pop/rock fans. For the critic, ignoring the true cliché that it doesn't break ground, it doesn't come off as anything too exceptional, although there's an attention to craft lacking in some similar efforts by other bands. The songwriting sometimes go beyond the usual girl-boy odes, like the anthem to "Sonny & Cher," the songs about "Jupiter" and "Dandelion," and the highlight, "Strawberry Afternoon," a pretty good update of the kind of intelligent Brit-pop typical of the Move circa 1970.
